Sunday February 12th Broad Town walk
On 12th February, a frosty winter’s morning, 10
members and 2 visitors set off for walk of 6½ miles from Broad
Town. The route took them across snow covered
fields with one of Wiltshire’s famous White Horses in view, to climb steeply up through Bincknoll Wood to the Iron Age castle at the top, where a coffee break was taken. Walking across fields to Weir Farm the group entered the pretty village
of Broad Hinton. After having lunch and looking around the church of St Peter ad Vincula, (“St Peter in
Chains – one of the very few churches called by this name, the most famous is
the Chapel Royal in the Tower
of London.)
T

path behind the church took them to Vize
Lane and, taking a right turn off this path, they
returned across fields to Broad
Town.
